Rules Specific to Texas Hold'em:The table includes ten players and one dealer. The dealer does not receive a hand. He manages the game by shifting and dealing, ensuring that the players are placing the proper amount in the pot, and awarding the pot to the winner. The button indicates which player is the virtual dealer. Even though the casino dealer actually deals the cards, the player with the button is said to be the dealer. When the hand starts, the dealer will have the players post the blinds. The player immediately to the left of the button places the small-blind, and the player to its left places the big-blind. The blinds are nothing more than blind bets. The purpose of the blinds is - the other players will have to call it, raise, or fold, thus opening the poker table for action in every hand. With the button in position and the blinds already posted, the dealer
deals the cards, starting with the small blind, clockwise until each player has
two cards. Once each player has two cards, the betting round begins. The player
to the left of the big-blind is first. The action proceeds clockwise until it
reaches the small-blind, which still has a betting option. Once the second betting round is complete, the dealer places one card face-up in the center of the table (called the turn) and the third betting round begins. It is the same as the second, the difference being that the bets are now doubles. The dealer places one last card face-up in the middle of the poker
table (called the river) and the final betting round begins. Like the third
round - all bets must be double. Once the forth betting round is complete, there
is the "showdown". Beginning with the player who was called, all remaining
players table their hands. The dealer awards the pot to the player with the best
hand. |
