Ranking of poker hands, how the poker hands rank:

 Cards are ranked from highest to lowest:

Ace, King, Queen, Jack, 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2

Aces are unique. They are the highest card, but can be used as the lowest card to complete small straight (A-2-3-4-5). Hands are ranked in the following manner, from the highest possible hand down:

Royal Flush - five cards in the same suit from ace to ten. Two or more royal flushes divide the pot. Suits do not matter. Royal flushes are technically no different than straight flushes, but they are listed as the highest possible hand.

Straight Flush - five consecutive cards of the same suite, except if a royal flush.

Four of a kind - four kinds of the same rank plus another card. The highest rank wins, for example 9-9-9-9-J beats 5-5-5-5-A.

Full house - Three cards of the same rank and a pair of the same rank. The highest ranking three of a kind determines the winner, when ties.

Flush - five cards of the same suit.

Straight - five cards of consecutive rank.

Three of a kind - three cards of the same rank plus another two cards.

Two Pair - two cards of the same rank, plus two cards of another same rank, plus another card.

One Pair - two cards of the same rank plus three other cards.

High Card - five cards of different rank.
